The Gift Rape

What is Gift Rape? This is when you have a relative who unknowingly gets you something with the best intentions. These gifts can include and not limited to, badly made sweaters, crazy looking shirts, funny looking toys, weird and yet, strangely wondering if it is truly legal gifts. Welcome to the Yuletide Season of GIFT RAPE! As you sit down watching over and over of "A Christmas Story" and all the Christmas specials in one day deal. And you open the gifts that you hope are to be good, thinking that maybe your family got something that could be useful and fun, then again, you get family and more crazy weirdness. I have been the victim of Gift Rape, a few years ago, my dearly departed grandmother got me something while still living. As I opened this gift, my heart sank, she got me a navy blue seasonal sweater, when she knew full well I just didn't wear it. My mother and I stared in horror at it, while she had to take a call from Grandma....which was slightly nuts. I had to

Crib bans, make no real sense

Image
Read this before you start to get bent out of shape: After Dozens of Deaths, drop-sided cribs banned . Okay, for a long time in our history of the nations, these cribs have appeared in day-care centers, in our homes as we have babies. Now we seem to have a slight problem. It appears these cribs are too dangerous for our children. This ban goes into affect in June and this requires parents and day-care centers, yes and event our trusty h ospitals to turn around and dispose of these things. In many cases, since I am an aunt and I am of the opinion that yes safety is an issue, and also that parents do need to take a good look at what they are buying before they get it. Look at the directions of putting these cribs together, make sure the pieces fit and also for the love of the world GET A BABY monitor. At least something that can have parents looking and seeing if the baby is OK. Sorry to be a wet blanket on the issue of these cribs, but considering how our nation seems to like to ban any

Hulu and anime fans, war against anime purist conventions

Hulu.com debate Recently, I posted on a forum about watching an anime on Hulu.com, I was told by the moderator of the forum that it was an illegal activity. What doesn't make sense is that hulu is partially owned by Funimation and some of what is shown on the site is for testing and seeing what is popular. There are only a few anime series that will be shown on the site at any given time, so what's the deal? Hulu.com is not illegal, in fact it is a promotion site for anime fans and also promotes people to buy anime if they like it. It is not saying, download it or something like that. Consider if you will by blowing a whistle on hulu.com is kind of silly considering that most of the shows that are being shown on the site are and I will say this loudly, ARE owned still by their companies. They have the rights and also because of the views, it is a testing site in many ways to figuring what they should buy and what people will want. All things considered, I support hulu.com. Anim

Let's put something bad to an end

Reading today's political section of the New York Times online has left me with an interesting view of the world. Considering that someone wants to put an end to the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy that was put in the military years ago and has been there since. It is the fact that Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual, and many others have suffered under this horrible idea for little over a decade and having it finally looked at again, it is time to put away this part of our history. Reading: Reid to Push to Allow End to "Don't Ask Don't Tell" Many people over the years in the military had to live with this in the shadow of their daily lives. Considering that when this was established was to protect homosexuals, this actually did more harm than good. It was almost saying, well, you can be here, but you can't say anything or do anything, you can't date, you can't have any contact with someone you might be in love with. It was a nasty bit of business if someone we

A New Planet and the best news

Image
Apparently a planet that was supposedly light years away might be closer than originally thought. This is kind of interesting as seen in the article found on yahoo.com: First glimpse of a Planet from another Galaxy . If you were to see a planet from another galaxy what would you think? You would have the idea that maybe there are other life forms on it, aliens so to speak. Its an interesting thought and not a far fetched one. Many ideas from recent years point to the idea of life on other planets. Some of the astronomers are actually excited about this and are thinking there might be air or some kind of environment to study. What is really strange about this world is that it jumped ship from another galaxy and wound up in the Milky Way Galaxy, which is our home. Called HIP 13044b this planet is going to show more to the world than just being a silent watcher as it appears around a distant star and also seems to be getting closer. People are now considering that maybe this planet might

Let's Drag it out?

Read this: Driver Convicted in Teen's Death Sues Victim's Parents Why do people are pretty bad about taking responsibility? Sadly not for this guy, he was pissed off that he was convicted and thinks that suing the parents of the teen he killed can conpensate his freaking ego! What about the parents? How do you think they feel having to be served for the fact that their 17 year old had died from a driver who ran him down. Just because the kid was riding without a helmet. There is something that should be brought up, if kids don't like a helmet, THEY WILL NOT WEAR IT! I have read helmet laws in many states, and most of them are not enforced as much, it is usually believed that it is for motorcycles and little children. If you think that suing a person for the parents of a child who dies as result of their irresponibility and not paying attention. Not to mention he might be slightly drunk when he did this. In my opinion, this is freaking stupid and not worth its time in writin

You are the future.....maybe not!

I am thinking about this in some depth considering that high schoollers are becoming the next college students, now that 2011 will be drawing near. Yet we have people who are into Twilight, and some other Teeny-Bopper fads that are just about as helpful as getting a piece of your brain ripped out from the nasal cavity of your nose. A note for Teens reading this and thinking that you can get anything you want, just because you're young and such. IT JUST DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY. Sorry, but when you stand getting your diploma and you leave the 12 years of shelter existence and end up going to colleges or onto the work force you are about to learn a few hard learned lessons. There is no Edward going to sweep you off your feet and marry you off the bat, unless you are some icky little model slut who can't keep her knees together and sleeps around. There is no scholarships that pay for everything, you are going to somehow going to have to pay for things for yourself, no parents to

UNFAIR RULING

Okay, my dear readers you should read this: 4-year-old can be sued, judge ruled Dear God and Goddess, a four year old couldn't know the different between stop and go with a bike at times when they are driving it. If this little girl hopes to see college apparently, this little old lady that was mowed down was not paying much attention. The ruling by the judge, Justice Paul Wooten of State Supreme Court in Manhattan, did not find that the girl was liable, but merely permitted a lawsuit brought against her, another boy and their parents to move forward. (Article above) I'm sorry, but that woman is a little off her rocker if she thinks a four year old knows the difference between a speed limit on a New York sidewalk. She was maybe no even aware how fast she was going. Also this judge is being unreasonable on the action considering that the person who should be considered for this is the child's mother who was liable and not the child. As someone who might want a chi

Doesn't make it right

Read this: Christian Teens Urged to Take Lead Against Anti-Gay Bullying Is this truly the best the gay community can hope from the Evangelicals? Actually, sorry to tell you, but it is all we can hope for! I'm asexual, yeah, that's right, I'm actually one of the rare ones where I don't plainly care about what gender I fall for because mentally I love people for their minds and their looks are beyond my interest. Sadly, reading through this article, I'm sort of pissed off, because people are standing around saying, "its okay to not bully," but yet mentally there is something wrong with the idea that churches to say to help the LGBT community by just making sure bullying doesn't happen. They are still bullying by just one thing, by says Gays have no right to marry, to say we have no right to speak up about unfair measures against them. Sorry, to tell you people who are follow the Cross and such, if you have a problem with people being gay/lesbian and such

DO YOUR JOB!

Just read this: Why Firemen Let That House Burn Down I'm sorry, as someone who is married to someone who is a fire fighter, he had something to say about this! A job is a job, the money could be nice, but letting a house burn down only proves how stupid it is to do that. Fires are meant to go out and having no control could cause a fire to spread to other locations. I have said this about it: It was immature on the part of the fighters to not put the fire out and also it is a matter of ethics. If a fire burns, you put it out before it causes problems for everyone else. There are people who are out there who suffer from real apathy and would cause problems with that. Its the fact we live in a world where everything is required to have a fee in order to get something done. If that is the case, why am I not being paid for giving something of an opinion or writing a blog? I don't know must be because people are that immature or stupid to notice that maybe their opinions can count f

NO on 62 in Colorado

Have anyone read this in depth? COLORADO, I am talking to you! Have you read that a woman can be charged with MURDER if she so much as a miscarriage, even if it is no fault of her own? This amendment is wrong on the basis, if a woman's body can't support having a child and she miscarries, do you think that it is within her right to have a police detective take her to a police station, book her on charges of murder of her unborn child? I will say this now, NO it is not fair. Just read this Link about Amendment 62: Click This undermines everything we are taught as a person, criminal law and also law enforcement should really think twice before ever supporting this kind of horrible thing. Do you even think that the Colorado Law enforcement can support something like this when they can't? I can just imagine a group of women who just had miscarriages suddenly have the police show up at their door, seeing their husbands watch as they are arrested. The reason this affects me is be

Anti-Duggars!

I find that the practice of having more children than one can afford, sorry, but watching an episode of the 19 Kids and Counting on TLC, has me thinking that these fundies are nothing more than living off the welfare system. That's just about ALL Fundamentalist Christians do, they have no real education, a Bible College isn't accredited for anything other than narrow minded dribble that makes this country fall more apart. The Duggars are an example that having more kids than they can afford is fine, that people who are basically milking TLC for money and their stupid religious causes. It isn't about taking care of their brats anymore, its about making people who are nonChristians see that they are living in a 100% white bread Christian nation of ignorance. There used to be Wiccans are TLC who appeared and spoke out about how healthy and good their religion was, but that was covered up by Evangelical nut jobs who have more children and milk the welfare system! This is the fa

Banned Books

Okay, do people even read these? Hell yeah, take a good look at your books on a book shelf and suddenly see Harry Potter, and many others. There are attacks daily on the literature we read and what we enjoy to read. I remember going to Texas in 1998, I found out Harry Potter was banned at my library at school, as was Dean Kontz, and many others. I was not really told until a librarian under protest decided to check some of these so-called banned books out to me and a few friends. So while we read about banned books this month of October, do yourself a favor and read some while you're at it. Harry Potter, Captain Underpants, and more. DO not stop there, do yourself a favor find out more about our country's banned books. Read this article: Banned Books Week Personally, I don't believe in banning books, because even if the books are not valued by many, it is still a book of value. Yes, this includes Twilight, I still don't like that series. Keep the books alive, keep the w

Piercing News

Image
Reading the Yahoo news, which is uncommon for me, I stumbled across a report about something that I find interesting. Just read about a student who is suspended for a nose piercing: Click here Its stupid, considering how backward the world is now, I have this to say on the matter, if the student was from India it is common for girls to have their nose pierced, it is a sign of maturity and beauty. I would say that I side with the factor that people who go around saying, this is or that is wrong, has to think of the cultural thoughts before voicing it. The ACLU have for years been saying they are for people's rights, to be honest, that is far from the case in some situations. I have seen it all and to be honest, in historical conditions of this country, which was founded on Christian ONLY ideals, most of the minority religious groups are still trying to find a voice of which to yell. Consider if you will the situation in 1982, a group of peopel who accused of being witches and abusin

What is this world coming to?

A friend of mine did something good, he did something that saved a person, then the college he went to in turn pressed charges on him. He didn't break the law, he didn't do anything of the sort. What he did was find a rape victim, called the cops, did everything he could to help the girl, then the school decided because they couldn't find those responsible for the rape, to basically turn on the guy who simply tried to help. This isn't uncommon, because rape is so common amongst this nation, that even if the person who helps is a guy, he who didn't commit the crime MUST be guilty. So college across the nation will turn on the student who did a good deed and file charges just to make themselves look good. What kind of freaking thing is this teaching college students? Okay, go to college, get an education, and if someone is raped, just ignore it and sweep it under the freaking RUG! Great, good job, thank you Colleges of America! Makes it really worth to continue educat

The Conventions and Convention Drama

I suggest anyone who goes to a convention of any kind to read this before you start packing your bags and start finding your money. Set yourself up for learning social skills 101 on how to deal with what is called Convention Drama. What is convention drama? 1. Convention Drama is the result of tensions gathered either by outside sources, the popularity of people and so forth. 2. Conventions can also mean close quarters with people whom you may not even like, but share the same hobbies with. 3. Emotionally unstable feelings of resentment and also feeling snubbed by people who are your peers who don't understand your hobby. (Mundanes outside of the convention who show up to belittle or often times just drink because its an excuse) 4. Finding out some friends of yours may have friends that you don't enjoy. 5. Relationship issues, sometimes finding you have a girlfriend or boyfriend at the convention that isn't altogether faithful. All of these factors do lead up drama, mostly

The Two Worlds in One

Okay, as many people go about their daily lives thinking that there is only one world, yeah, that's great, but what about the other worlds, including Anime Fans, Furries, Trekkies, Star Wars Fans, and everyone else. Then we have the political nuts saying these things don't exist, which is like saying, oh....well...they aren't here. Furries There are those who say that as a Furry saying something about the matter that this is all biased group of views, which is the community is completely misunderstood. I am going to say this as of now, 1. not all furries will target children and are pedophiles, oh, hells no, I'm a furry and do I really like that, NO! 2. Furries are full of gay people, yeah, there are gay people that are furries, and there are straight people too, we are a colorful bunch of people. 3. We have sex with animals, um....eeewww, there are some I question about that, but hell NO, not this furball, no way is this neko anyway sexually interested in dogs or any o

There words that come to my head

I have read many of the things said by many different people about how things should be in the world, but I have come to many conclusions that have said this to me: "stop thinking like it is one way or black and white." There are times when people will walk around and I have seen it in many ways where they will say because they are this way, we have to all be that way. Considering what happened with Anne Rice saying she was going to quit Christianity. What I got from it was she wasn't going to quit believing in Jesus, she was going to quit thinking that there is only one way to go to him. I'm a Wiccan and I have some of my Episcopal beliefs that say that there are as many ways to Jesus as there are sand by the ocean. There is no one way to get anywhere in the world. I look at the Tao-Te-Ching and I think a lot about what it means. Walking through the world and saying things are just one way or another, is just setting yourself up to become a bigger fool than you alrea
