An Attack on Women's Rights!
Why does this not surprise many people. Many states are facing this same problem, though considering that an attack on women's right to chose is still the agenda of many evangelical Christian groups who make it their mission to tell people what is OK and not OK in their own personal lives.
"Marching in step with the GOP’s nationwide war on a woman’s right to choose, the Idaho legislature gave final approval to a bill that would outlaw abortions after 20 weeks. Modeled after Nebraska’s first-in-the-nation measure, the bill — like the one passed in Kansas last week — is based on highly disputed medical research alleging that a fetus can feel pain at 20 weeks. Idaho’s bill, however, also fails to include exceptions for rape, incest, severe fetal abnormality or the mental or psychological health of the mother. “Only when the pregnancy threatens the mother’s life or physical health could a post-20-week abortion be performed.” " (from link above)
These laws are popping up everywhere, in truth, it is the fact that most of our country is now buying into the Evangelical views of the world and are suddenly pushing women to go back to the age old illegal abortion that could cause death. from many cases women themselves are now becoming a small voice in a large room where their rights are suddenly not even important?
Though there are cases of abortion that I don't agree with, including when a person can't keep their legs closed and just do this as an easy out. Then there are truly people who need this done for their psychological health. If a woman is raped and she conceives, she may take her frustration out on the fetus, of it she puts it up for adoption, it will end up in the same situation as many children, no homes and no one willing to take them, the system has thousands of children in their orphanages and children's homes that are not even considered for adoption.
I'm staring at this article going, there are so many things wrong with our society and passing these laws that aren't going to help.
There are other concerns that could possibly cause a drag in the system, there are many medical problems with children of incest, these could include some retardations and even blood diseases like hemophilia, which is when the body lacks a function that could cause them to bleed to death. Hemophilia was well known in European families due to inbreeding within the royals, causing not only pain and suffering for the children. Well known is a child that didn't live to the age of 15, he was the son of a Czar of Russia.
"State Rep. Shannon McMillan (R) argued that women who were impregnated under “violent circumstances” should have no choice because it’s not the fetus’s fault. State Rep. Brent Crane, the bill’s sponsor, took it a step further. Believing that “tragic, horrific” acts of rape or incest are the “hand of the Almighty,” Crane said women should trust God to turn the consequences of their sexual assault into “wonderful examples”" (from link above)
I'm not a religious person and though this is considered a hopeful belief...I'm sorry to say, not everyone sees it that way. In many cases, people say, "KEEP YOUR RELIGION TO YOURSELF," to State Rep. Brent Crane. What shocks me the most is that most of the rulings are being made by MEN! Men don't have a say in whether a woman does something or not, it is still the belief by most men that women are inferior by nature to them and should obey them 100%. Which is a total sack of bull shit in my view. If a male were to do that to me, I would walk up slap them with a discrimination law suit and also if they are the father of my child take away all visitation rights under the circumstances of teaching terrible history and violence against women.
It is the fact that using GOD and other religious figures in government is illegal, there is a separation of church and state. I am saying this now, I'm sorry if I seem harsh and not really friendly on the idea, but religiously, it has no bearing on the health whether it be physical or mental of a woman. If a woman is psychologically unable to handle a rape, what makes it easier to handle a unwanted pregnancy?
News: Abortion becomes flashpoint in shutdown Battle
This is another round of fights over women's medical needs. Shutting down Planned Parenthood is not a good idea. But the GOP is desperate to make the move to just make it so women can't have the medical needs they really need.
"Federal law prohibits federal funds from being used to pay for abortions, so Planned Parenthood's abortion services are paid for by private funding. But Republicans, including House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), have made defunding the organization a priority in the budget battle, seeing it as an opportune time to push their social issue agenda." (New link)
Defunding as they call it not only causes problems for women and also the problems with families. It isn't about abortions, it is more about the fact that Planned Parenthood also gives options aside from abortions. There are medical options and also options to have family planning that is important.
"The GOP-controlled House already voted this year to defund Planned Parenthood, but enough Senate Democrats vowed to oppose that legislation that it had no hope of success in the Democratic-controlled upper chamber.
In the current fight, Democrats have cast the Planned Parenthood rider as a war on women's health. Reid noted Friday on the Senate floor that Planned Parenthood provides cancer screenings, as well as a range of health services such as cervical cancer tests, breast exams and birth control." (New Link)
So far that shutting down some of the services that were needed, now it seems that GOP is on a war against women in general.
History at times does show this type of problem, the bible itself deemed women inferior to men and under the rule of males till the twentieth century. Now we are going back to the early ages of women's rights, now it appears that we are losing our rights as women and starting to feel the horrible new rules against our bodies.
Soon it will be illegal for women to report rapes, and the victims will be viewed as the criminals.
